President’s Message – May 2018

To the CADS membership, Board and committee members:
It is all of you who made my thoughts and ideas as President a reality. Whatever I asked a CADS member to do; they always seem to do more. It is this commitment and pride in our society that made my job as President worth it.
I have always loved the saying “Change is inevitable, but growth is optional” by John C. Maxwell. There have been many changes in our society this year luckily, but we have capitalized on these and have bettered ourselves in the process.
I wanted to thank our Membership Chairs, Meredith Overstreet and Raj Shenoy, for promoting our members in great events such as: the Trail of Lights Fun Run, Top Golf, and Wine and Wisdom.
I am so proud of our up and coming leaders Emily Conley and Rebecca Montalvo. The New Dentist Committee has been busy this year: New Dentist boat party, Halloween pub crawl, volunteering at the Animal shelter and with Special Olympics, and the UT baseball game.
Our Communication Committee lead by Russell McFarlane has done a stellar job of making sure that all members are kept informed. We have improved our website, online registration, and have recently added text message reminders.
Our Capital Star has continued to be a newsletter that other dental societies envy. Thank you to Jonathon Kimes and Nancy for doing such a great job! I am thankful for our executive director and her hard work behind the scenes.
I am grateful that we have been able to promote continuing education this year, and for Steve Katz and Jerry Katz for leading our Study Club. Also, the CADS Conference team and Sponsorship team Matt Heck, Darry Baucum, and Stan LaCroix for making the CADS Conference a reality.
Thank you to the CADS Executive Committee, I know our Society is in great hands with Dale Gallagher, Trisha Kimes, and Shailee Gupta leading the way.
I extend my sincere thanks to the entire CADS community for the way you supported me, our Board and our profession. And last, thank you for the honor of being your CADS Dentist of the Year. I am a lucky lady to be surrounded by such great leaders and dentists in our society!
