TDA Legislative Day
Wednesday, February 20, 2019
Save the date, clear your schedule, and join the CADS Legislative Team as we participate in the TDA Legislative Day of the 86th Texas Legislature.
The dental profession that we enjoy is under constant attack from outside interest groups, and this session will be no different. If you’ve been to Lobby Day before, then I’ve no doubt that you have already signed up online and are planning on attending again. If this is your first year, we gladly welcome you on this very important day. Each session, hundreds of dentists from across the state meet for the TDA sponsored event for a morning of education, followed by an afternoon of action. The meeting begins at 8:00 AM at the Stephen F. Austin Hotel (downtown, 701 Congress Ave). After breakfast, the TDA Legislative and Regulatory Affairs staff will make a presentation covering the most important speaking points and specific bill numbers that we will speak in favor of or against. At 11:30, the CADS team will ascend to the Capitol and meet with our area legislators and their staff. Appointments will be made in advance and teams will be assembled in advance, so no experience needed! If this will be your first time, you will be on a team with a seasoned veteran. You don’t have to say a word if you don’t feel comfortable (you are encouraged to speak if you wish) but your presence will be felt. DENPAC and TDA are among the most well-funded and well-respected groups at the Capitol, and when Texas dentists swarm the offices of our elected officials and speak with a unified voice, we are heard loud and clear…but numbers matter. The bigger the assembly, the bigger the voice, so we need you there.
Register to attend today on the TDA website. You must be logged in as a member before you register. The CADS Legislative Action Team will contact you with more details, and we will hold a meeting prior to the Legislative Day to prep attendees on talking points and possible counter questions from the legislators’ staff. We will assign teams and appointments, and even educate you on the maps and layout of the offices to make sure you don’t get lost. All the money you spend on dues and DENPAC donations mean nothing if we don’t get the vote we need on the House or Senate floor, so there is no better time to make a difference. SEE YOU THERE!!!
