One of the key components to the CADS Value Proposition is supporting our community. This begins at the local level, serving Austin and the surrounding communities, and extends to the state and national level.
As the philanthropic arm of the Capital Area Dental Society, the Capital Area Dental Foundation (CADF) takes our professional call to service seriously. Our members have taken the time to understand the oral health problems facing our community and have created programs that take on the problems no one else is tackling. Our focus began with underprivileged and disabled adults but has grown to include the Health Alliance of Austin Musicians (HAAM), and Goodwill. There are ways to support this charitable organization by donating dental services or providing financial support.
Texas Mission of Mercy (TMOM) is a mobile dental clinic that travels around the state providing basic dental care (including cleanings, fillings, or extractions), free of charge, to uninsured Texans. Treatment provided at a TMOM is focused on relieving pain. Volunteer dentists examine and will determine the most necessary treatment for each patient. Since 2001, TMOM events have provided more than 29,000 patients with nearly $15 million worth of charitable care.
As we all know, Dental health has an impacton our overall health and neglecting one can negatively impact the other. That’s why the American Dental Association (ADA) has launched the Action for Dental Health: Dentists Making a Difference, a nationwide campaign aimed at boldly addressing the dental health crisis facing America today.
