Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is an underdiagnosed medical condition with potentially serious morbidities. Dental professionals can be instrumental in recognizing the signs and symptoms of OSA. This presentation will cover diagnosis and treatment options for patients suffering with Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

Zachary D. Wassmuth, MD
Dr. Zachary Wassmuth is a board certified Otolaryngologist with a sub-specialty board in Sleep Medicine. Dr. Wassmuth received his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas, his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and completed his residency with the Army at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. His residency research focus was in snoring and sleep apnea. Dr. Wassmuth moved back to Austin in 2003 and joined Capital Otolaryngology. He formed Snoring Austin as a subdivion of Capital Otolaryngology to specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of all sleep disorders. Dr. Wassmuth is the clinical director of a fully accredited sleep lab at Capital Otolaryngology. He sees and treats hundreds of sleep apnea patients each year and is proud to be on the cutting edge of sleep apnea treatment. He has done multiple local radio and television interviews about sleep apnea and will be featured in a nationwide educational documentary on the benefits of hypoglossal nerve stimulation in the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
Dr. Wassmuth was voted Top Doctor by his peers for the past three years. He was the 2018 winner of the Best of the Best competition – Austin Otolaryngologist.
