Letter from Dr. Tate’s Office

November 15, 2006

Our office has had the pleasure of working with a mother-son duo that teaches others by example that life is sacred and joyful. Our office [Dr Tate] has just completed extensive work on Dustin Castellanos and it was a memorable experience for all of us; Dustin, his mother, our staff and Dr. Tate.

Dustin’s mother is a role model for him, as well as others who have the privilege of meeting her. Even though she is fighting cancer her spirit could not be more positive and up beat. Dustin and his mom share a special bond of love and respect for each other that radiates to others. She has given Dustin a firm loving foundation that will influence him the rest of his life.

Dustin…what a polite young man, with a ready smile, and yet all boy.  Dustin was referred to our office by the St. David’s Dental Program (Theo Project) due to the extent of restorative dentistry that was needed, including a supernumerary tooth that needed extracting. Multiple surfaces of restorations, stainless steel crowns, and a pulpotomy were completed.. We could see Dustin’s smile broaden with each dental visit, showing us how grateful he was that his teeth looked and felt great. His mother was happy for the completion of the dental work that allowed Dustin to concentrate, in and out of school, without feeling the discomfort from severe decay and infection.

Our thanks go to the St. David’s Dental Program and Michelle Augustine for the screening, organizing, and tireless coordination of the children and their parents with the dental office. The experience has been such a positive one, that the day we finished Dustin, we called Michelle ready for another opportunity to help another child by restoring the mouth back to a sound state.

An organized dental program, designed to treat patients who are in need of treatment, and deserve pro-bono care, is a service dentists can and should provide for our community. Our office receives the gratitude and smiles from those children and their parents who truly need and deserve care, and that is a balance sheet that reads Paid in Full!

Respectfully,

K. Swenson, Practice Manager for Albert M. Tate, Jr., D.D.S., P.A.
