December President's Message
Published: Dec 19, 2006
DECEMBER 2006
The Holidays will be upon us by the time you read this message. Wow, time seems to be passing faster and faster!
The first half of my tenure as your President seems to have gone by without a hitch. It has been a good year so far for CADS. I had an objective for this year to see an increase in membership of 10%, which is a lofty goal. The good news is we have reached the goal for the 2006 calendar year at 55 new members! Since June 1st, the beginning of our fiscal year, we have had 30 new members join our society. Please help keep the momentum going by inviting new, as well as the old, non-member dentists to CADS functions and meetings. The General Meeting attendance has been averaging 130. Thanks to our speakers in November, Drs. Bill Robbins and Jeff Rouse, we had 150 attendees at the General Meeting, which may be a CADS record! Thanks to Dr. Gene Hassell, our President-Elect, we have had a strong list of meeting speakers and it looks positive for the remainder of the year. Sponsorship, which helps subsidize our meetings, has been outstanding this year thanks to the continual efforts of our Executive Director, Nancy Nisbett. Please support and say thanks to those sponsors that are helping our Society.
Don’t forget our annual fundraiser, the CADS Casino Gala, which will occur on February 10, 2007 at the Renaissance Austin Hotel located in the Arboretum. This Gala promises a great evening of fun starting with salsa dancing lessons, followed by the casino, live music, a big silent auction and a raffle for a couple of great prizes. Get dressed up, after all, Valentines Day is only four days later! Bring your friends and your staff and celebrate with your colleagues for a great cause. You don’t have to be a CADS member to attend. Non-members are welcome and it is a great opportunity to meet the society.
February 21, 2007 is TDA Legislative Day and it is Texas dentists’ day to be heard at the Capital. Remember, our advocacy protects our practices, as we know them today.
In closing, I hope 2006 was a fabulous year for all of you. I wish you and your family good health, prosperity, joy and love. And I hope 2007 will be even better!
Sincerely yours,
Barry F. Rouch
Mr. President
