The Texas Meeting
Published: May 23, 2006
The Texas Meeting, the 136th Annual Session of the Texas Dental Association held in San Antonio May 11-14 was a success by many standards.  The attendance of 13,041 is a new record.

Dr. Mark Peppard was elected to the Board of Directors as Southeast Regional Director. Congratulations Mark!

Dr. Tommy Harrison of Katy was sworn in as President of the Texas Dental Association and will represent us well.

Your delegates were well prepared as usual and most action items considered by the House of Delegates were important in that they refined policies and bylaws of the association to facilitate the Future Focus plan of the Association, which is proactive and positive. The plan emphasizes better communications with the membership and other crucial areas, which will make the Texas Dental Association one of the best organizations of its kind anywhere.  Normally, there are a number of resolutions that garner spirited debate in the reference committee hearings and on the House Floor as well. This meeting lacked controversy including the budget. It was generally felt that
this is a sign that the Association is performing well financially and acting proactively for its members.

Some of our CADS members volunteered to serve as clinician hosts. Thanks to Drs. Dale Gallagher, Tor Gotun, Kelly Hale, Eric Hollander, Anne Lyon, Jim Root, Sandra Sinclair, and Matt Steinberg.
