Presidents Message June 2010
Published: May 31, 2010

June 2010

When Mrs. Nisbett asked me to write my first President’s Message, I decided to do some research on what past Presidents of CADS had written over the years. What I realized is that the President’s Messages are about to get a whole lot shorter than they have been in recent years.

I would first like to thank all the past presidents and board members who came before me and who worked so tirelessly to make our society one of the elite societies around the state. I feel very honored that you had the confidence in me to continue this strong tradition of excellence. I have some very big shoes to fill, but I will do my best.

One thing that I would like to see over this next year is to get more people involved with the CADS, CADF, and with volunteering around our great city and state. I look around at the board of CADS. I look around at the board of our Foundation. I look around at TMOMs. I look around at the list of volunteers for THEO. I look at those who volunteered for the DOCS program last year. What I tend to see is the same people doing everything, with a few new faces scattered in. I commend them all for their time and commitment to serve and to volunteer, but I also wonder how they can do it all. With 19 & 4 month old boys at home, I just don’t have the time I once had. It would be wonderful if we had so many volunteers that we would have to start turning them down, but I know that won’t ever happen. Instead, we are constantly looking for more help. If you have volunteered your time in the past, I welcome and encourage you to do it again. If you have never taken the time to volunteer, please consider it this year. It only takes one smile and you will forever volunteer.

Again, I thank all those before me, and especially our fearless leader last year, Dr. LaCroix, for making CADS such a wonderful society. We will continue to be one of the elite societies due to all of those folks behind the scenes who work to keep our profession something to be proud of.

Respectfully submitted,

Eric Hollander, DDS
