President's Message February 2009
Published: Jan 25, 2009
February Is For Boots and Hats

In a few days, Saturday, February 7, we will be having our 10th Annual CADS Charity Fundraiser at the Texas Disposal Systems Exotic Game Ranch, located one exit south of the Onion Creek exit/ IH 35. It’s always a fun gathering for the society with live music, dancing, and good food. In recent years, our event has grown to average 300-400 folks and all tell us what a great, fun night it has become. This year will be no different with the exception being, we have been able to move the event to a Saturday evening, which is a prime night for the TDS Exotic Game Ranch, considering the number of annual Austin charity events that are booked at this incredible facility.

Speaking of this incredible facility, if you have never been there before, you are in for a treat.  There will be touring buses so that everyone can see the exotic animals up close. We’re talking bison, zebras, gazelle, elk, moose, giraffe, etc.!  Unbelievable fun and all for support of our Capital Area Dental Foundation and its' charitable recipients. Let's all dust off those boots and if you haven't already sent in your reservation, please call Nancy at 335-1405 with your RSVP.

The Texas Legislature has convened for the 2009 session and on Wednesday, February 25th, CADS members will once again put on our hats and join forces with the TDA to meet with our legislators. This is the most important duty we are called to do as members of organized dentistry.  Show up as a united group and be heard so that we can help direct our mandates and not the mandates of people who know little or nothing about dentistry.  Please register today at tda.org/legislative. Hope to see you all on the 25th. The Legislators will remember who we are by our numbers and our enthusiasm.
