Busy Times are Good TimesA great showing of our members volunteered their considerable talents and time to make the Leander TMOM very successful the weekend of September 26th & 27th. 873 most appreciative patients were treated and anterior teeth were replaced for 39 with flippers. A special thanks to Julio Seretti and ten of his technicians, Ms. Eleyse Anderson of Custom Effects Laboratory, Verna’s Laboratory in Leander, and Edwin Garcia, CDT. These people worked non-stop to provide new smiles to those with missing anterior teeth. Dr. Dan Loving served as Local Dental Chair of this 17th TMOM and did a wonderful job. This was a big commitment on his part. Give a big thanks the next time you see him.
While numerous CADS members devoted much more than the two days of the actual event to make it successful, what struck me this time was the participation of so many of our new and young members. Way to go! Obviously no one clued this group in on the fact that volunteering is addictive because it is so rewarding.
With the schools in session and football in full swing, we are all busy with family activities but somehow find the time to help others that are less fortunate. We are truly blessed to be in this great profession.
I have a friend that is a dentist in the northwest and he is amazed at the amount and quality of CE in our area. He is also impressed with the access-to-care initiatives here. He said that after hearing of our activities, he is a little embarrassed that dentists in his area are not as active as they should be.
Next month, I will give a report on the ADA Annual Session held in San Antonio in October. I hope many of you were able to take advantage of this national meeting in our own backyard.
Your Capital Area Dental Foundation has been very active and an update is included in this issue of the Star.
The attendance at our meetings has been tremendous, as have the programs and speakers Dr. LaCroix has arranged. Don’t miss out on future great meetings. We would love to see you there. May each of you have a great Thanksgiving holiday. |
