Making Sense of CADS & CADFIn this world of acronyms, we at the Capital Area Dental Society have added to the mix.
The Capital Area Dental Society was founded in 1924 with the goals of uniting dentists of the Greater Austin area encompassing five counties for the advancement of the profession and for coordinated service to the community.
So that we as CADS can achieve even more for the community in the area of dental health, the Capital Area Dental Foundation (CADF) was incorporated in 2007. In July of 2008, CADF was granted 501(C)(3) designation by the I.R.S. making all donations fully tax deductible. Through the Foundation and the support of CADS, services to area residents will be greatly enhanced by identifying particular areas of unmet dental needs and developing working models and attaining grants to meet those specific needs.
You can deal with yet two more acronyms CADS & CADF but sometimes it is difficult to understand which organization does what. The simplest way that I can explain this is that CADF is a new tool that supercharges the public health, access to care, fundraising, and community awareness efforts that have been remarkable over the past decade.
Our dental society has been blessed with great leadership and active members. A critical element of leadership is developing a vision for the future (Thank you Dr. Dolce!) and implementing a plan to achieve long-term goals. With the Foundation in place and performing with purpose, we as local dentists will collectively be able to accomplish more than we can imagine in providing care to those in need and in performing the mission of CADS.
It is fulfilling to devote energies to a group cause. It is difficult to think of a better cause than living up to the lofty missions of CADS & CADF and we want you to be a part of this journey that has limitless potential. We as dentists have unique privileges and abilities. The way we use these gifts defines our profession and professionalism. Whatever great things the Foundation brings, will directly benefit the Capital Area Dental Society. WTG CADS & CADF!
