Capital Area Dental Foundation Moves Forward
Published: Feb 24, 2008
The Capital Area Dental Foundation (CADF) is eagerly awaiting the final 501(c)(3) designation that will allow us to move ahead in fulfilling our goals. This final “blessing” from the IRS will allow for tax-deductible donations to be accepted and for CADF to seek grants.

One may ask, “Why go through all of this trouble since there are many charities, non-profits, and foundations that have similar goals, especially helping to improve the dental health of those in need?”  This is a fair question and one that the Board of Trustees of the Foundation has addressed.  The answer is two-fold. We feel that there are many ways to help meet the growing need of people without access to dental healthcare and that more creativity in the most efficient delivery of care is needed. Additionally, the goals of the Foundation are broader in scope and specific to the interests of dentists. For example, we envision providing and supporting continuing education for dentists that will make them better leaders in their profession as well as in their communities. Leadership training enhances both dentists and the patients they serve.

The primary mission of the Capital Area Dental Foundation is to improve the oral health of Texans, especially the needy and vulnerable through education and increased access to care.

The Foundation is not intended to be in competition with other like Foundations, but to integrate, expand, and collaborate the current efforts to eradicate dental disease.

The Tocker Foundation was established in 1964 to implement the philanthropic interests of Phillip and Olive Tocker.  Fellow dentist, Dr. Bob Tocker is Chairman of the Board and the Tocker Foundation is already a generous supporter of the efforts of the Capital Area Dental Foundation. We thank them for their trust and support!
