Q.  My teeth are a little outward.  I want to fill the gaps found between the teeth and want them to be in the normal position.  What should I do?

A.  There are several reasons why teeth will be “outward” or flare. It is possible that the teeth erupted to that position or may have progressively flared over time. It is not uncommon for this to happen when someone has periodontal or gum disease due to the lack of underlying bone support.  If you are young, this is not the likely cause.
A thorough evaluation by the dentist to rule out gum disease or other dental problems would be wise. Once this is done, a consultation with an orthodontist will give you the information necessary to make the best treatment decisions.
